Interface designs

Jason has been working hard on the interface designs. He’s pretty much finished most of the sections of the app. Here’s a sneaky preview of how they’re looking. They’re small so you can’t see the words but you get the general idea. Jason has coupled the logo with a smokey blue background and used a tab device to enable users to get around the interface. We really love the colours he’s used (not too serious but not too kiddy either). He’s also used a nice mix of serif and sans serif fonts that we think really make it that little bit different. Each screen is super simple with everything you need to operate the app in one tidy place. The Q&As are located down the lefthand side and will (hopefully) help us to answer users’ questions as they go.
Jason is still working on the interface designs so this is very much a work in progress. Some tweaking will occur as we go through each slide to test its usability. But initially we’re really happy with what we have so far.
Can’t go wrong with that clean look. Looking forward to seeing waht this app is all about.
Did you already tell what the concept was? If you did, I must have missed it. . .

The only thing we won’t tell you is what the app does - at least not until we launch.

Well played with hiding the app screens, but we all know what the app actually does:
It’s for meeting spanish-speaking people over the interwebs! That’s why it’s called amigo, right? ;)

Is it a reputation system? Is it a way for me to make new friends? ;-)

I think the first tab says “My Bids”, no?

Perhaps it is a craigslist kinda thing for drug smuggling.
“hey amigo, will you carry this bag for me across the border?”

Thanks Josh, I did indeed miss that. . .

With all that blurring, the word “Settings” kinda looks like it’s in Comic Sans. I demand proof to the contrary. : )

Well, I can make some assumptions based on the information here– the kinds of fields and graphs/colors, the presence of what appears to be a scale coded by color, the presence of ascenders and descenders (I think I see “My Rating”, “Advertising Rates”), two different kinds of users (”are you a Publisher or Advertiser”?)
Also, the top right and bottom right screens are identical, just taken at different browser widths.

Just curious,
Why are you keeping amigo such a secret? Do you think it is a new idea and don’t want a competitor to pop right up? Or is it to help generate buzz?

Looking nice, guys.

Mystery is important. It draws our attention. It makes us ask questions like what is it? and why won’t we know what it is until is released?
That’s also called marketing.

Ha ha… good ole Comic Sans… I think it’s time for a come-back. Using Comic Sans for your app will become ironic-trendy, like 80s-style moccasins and footballer mullet cuts.

I commented on the wrong post sorry. When I hit comments, the images disappeared
Anyway, here is my guess for what the screens say
1. Account Settings
2. My Rating
3. Marketing something
4. Welcome
5. same as 3

Comment by Cris — May 19, 2006 @ 8:10 pm
By the way the font is Futura Medium - according to Jason.

Wow, Jason, that’s a really tiny font size you’re using! Here I am struggling to get 4 columns to fit into one page and you’ve managed to get 3 pages across in one column! No wonder they always say that thing they always say about your designs!

The only trouble with hype is living up to it. (although I’m sure Amigo will…)
Nice idea though, I look forward to the outcome.
