Ryan has ditched the old PC laptop he talked about struggling with during the building of DropSend (in his Web Apps on a budget presentation) for a nice shiny iMac! :-)

Actually, my main machine is a small VAIO. The iMac is used for testing. However, Gill and Lisa have brand spanking new MacBooks, and I'm super jealous :)

I've met some of the UK paypal guys (in fact had a job interview there) and am sure you can get some joy, one of their areas of focus this year is small to medium business and another is providing a more transparent usage of their service (I assume using their APIs). Good luck.

In other news... Ryan has ditched the old PC laptop he talked about struggling with during the building of DropSend (in his Web Apps on a budget presentation) for a nice shiny iMac! :-)

See you @@media.

Thanks Brandon! We're currently checking into ACH, but we'll still probably go the Paypal route.

I know you guys are in the UK, but are you targeting mostly US customers? I don't know about the banking system there, but we have special numbers that go along with our account numbers that allow deposits, but not withdrawals.

They call it ACH, and it allows direct deposit into any US bank account. It's very efective, and I'm fairly positive you could get some sort of API or plugin written to interface between your bank and US banks, or you could just open a US bank account for the US customers and use ACH for them.

I'd also be surprised if you don't have a similar feature there in the UK, as you guys are usually a few years ahead of us when it comes to banking and personal security (ACH was developed so that people wouldn't have to give their bank account numbers out to anyone wanting to wire them money).

Sounds like Paypal has turned into the phone company...every operator has a different answer. Hopefully it works out. On the plus side, the office looks great!
