Hi Ryan,

As I read your post I had an idea about how you might add to your model...

Perhaps instead of charging advertisers on a CPC basis you could build an affiliate network of sorts for newsletters. That way advertisers could pay on an action / transaction basis.

Or even better you could blend the two together.

Just a thought.

Best,

Andrew

Ryan - One thing needs to be answered, im sure you have thought of it, fradulent clicks? Its a novel idea but this cld get it down

To Gillian -
Pcking up from my last comment about testing service.
No i am not starting a testing service as yet it was just an idea i thought ill toss up here, i am into development and testing but i doubt if web 2 folks in west are evn ready to offshore web app development let alone testing as yet.

I have a suggestion here, for preventing click fraud but ill listen to what you guys plan to do first.

All the best with this one im sure it wld work

Regards,
Adi

Ryan,

Not sure if you'd heard of it but The Cloud (who operate a lot of the hotspots anyway(apart from Starbucks)) do a "all you can eat" flat-rate wireless service for £11.99 a month. This proved a godsend when I recently moved house and was waiting for broadband to be installed.

Ultra wi-fi's the name: http://www.thecloud.net/content.asp?section=4&content=57

Ryan,

I think, that I can help you with the idea for Calorie counter. I'm familiar with this sphere and also develop web applications with similar purposes. If you want more information, please send me an email.

I hope that we can work together. :)

I would use the email advertising service in a minute, as an advertiser, if there were a category for newletters directed at visual artists.

Excellent Idea.

"For some stupid reason, Starbucks (and every other coffee shop in town) thinks it’s a great business move to charge between £5 and £15 per day for wifi."

Well, every major coffee/fast food chain in the UK. They all outsource the service to companies like T Mobile and SipNSurf, so its those guys setting the rates.

Anyway, you guys should try http://www.jiwire.com - There's an firefox toolbar incorporating the hotspot finder, and also an OSX widget which is really cool.
