We haven’t revealed what the web app does yet, because we need to keep it private until we get closer to launch. We have to be careful about people stealing the idea! :)

Hey,

I have read all of your posts and watched the videos, and I found it really interesting to watch how the project progressed. Have you guys actually told us what the app will do? I have read just about everything, and I haven’t found anything on what the app is going to do.

Look forward to updates, and best of luck! You have provided a good starting point for my own project :)

Hey, firstly i’d really like too say thanks, you guys have really taught me a lot about how to go about launching a web app, i plan to be lauching one during the summer, i have a pretty good idea, the thing is im a 17 year old developer and i dont really have a lot of money, i can code/design etc, just wondering if you might have any tips for me about how to get the project going, marketting etc, one of the reasons im making the app is to try and raise a bit of cash for when i goto university next year to study computer science.

hmmm… good question. I think you should give people the opportunity to be e-mailed when the app launches. Hey, if they’re interested and you have an application to tell them about then why not?
We put up a holding page for Vitamin and by the time we launched we had over 5000 people on the list. This gave it a great boost on launch day.
Plus Amigo is only two month’s away from launch (22nd June remember!) - or at least that’s the plan.

Do you think it’s essential to get a holding page up straight away, even if you’re months away from launch, no-one knows about your URL yet etc?

A holding page is the page that you put up on the url (in this case http://www.heyamigo.net) when the app isn’t quite ready to launch yet.
