Bye bye deadline!

Gillian Carson | Video Diaries, Amigo | Thursday, July 27th, 2006

Ryan gives an update on where we are at with Amigo and what the plan is going forward. We’re not sure why he’s developed a lisp - maybe something to do with a change of camera. Watch it and find out.

  1. Yes, it’s definitely better if you can seperate the front end development from the backend development. I don’t know how many personal projects have failed simply because front end work became boring, despite having most (if not all) of the backend done. User’s look only at the front end and if it’s sloppy because the developer is overwhelmed with other “more interesting” stuff or just looses focus whilst switching between front and back, it’s not easy to succeed. Can’t wait to see success with amigo.

  2. ryan, any particular reason that video had to be filmed while you were driving? It was totally irresponsible. You were concentrating on the video, not on driving.

My concern is that you had your eyes off the road several times throughout the video. Granted each time was for a short period, but at the speeds you were doing, even microseconds can be significant. I see absolutly no reason why that video couldn’t have been done elsewhere, while you weren’t driving. I’m very dissapointed.

  3. I’d just like to second the first post concerning the responsibility of making an update video whilst driving. I can’t believe you thought it was acceptable to put the lives of other road users at risk in this way.

You say you were heading to the airport. There would have been ample time for an update video to filmed in the departure lounge.

I strongly suggest you have a good think about your actions.

  4. Wow, im developing my app and what you just said is what ive just done, its alot easier, i mean i found a guy who coded all the css/XHTML for my app for $30 from sitepoint, now i can get on with the interesting stuff. I was going to do it myself but it does become extremely boring especially if your not an expert at it.

  6. Ryan, be sure to tell us what was served at your sisters wedding. Oh, I too love the aviator glasses. You might want to adjust the nose bridge, as you had to adjust the glasses on your face four times.

  7. I’ve always been more of a classics type guy - can’t do trendy new fashions, so aviators are perfect :)

  9. I’m disappointed by this attitude. You have a great product but because of this video made in a car, I’ll never suscribe to your service because on the wheel, you seem to behave as, my wife says often, a wranker.
You wanted to appear smart, but next time think about the family you could have killed!
